There are a few possible reasons why your 2012 Mercedes-Benz C180 might be displaying the "Release parking brake" message and beeping, even when the parking brake is not engaged. Here are a possible causes and solutions:
Faulty parking brake switch. The parking brake switch is responsible for telling the car's computer that the parking brake is engaged. If the switch is faulty, it may be sending a signal to the computer that the parking brake is engaged, even when it is not. Faulty parking brake cable. The parking brake cable is responsible for physically engaging the parking brake. If the cable is faulty, it may not be able to engage the parking brake properly. This can cause the display to show the "Release parking brake" message and the car to beep.
Faulty parking brake actuator. The parking brake actuator is responsible for applying the parking brake. If the actuator is faulty, it may not be able to apply the parking brake properly. This can cause the display to show the "Release parking brake" message and the car to beep.
Software issue. In some cases, the problem may be caused by a software issue. If the car's computer is not properly programmed, it may not be able to communicate with the parking brake system properly. This can cause the display to show the "Release parking brake" message and the car to beep.
