My Saturn makes a tapping sound when the RPMs are high and stops when it shifts and they go back down.

Upon others advice I have replaced the timing chain, water pump and other belts in that area. Didn't help.....

You need to take a long screw driver and hold it up to your ear and touch different parts of the engine to see where the noise is coming from.

They said they did that and they were sure the sound was coming from the timing chain cover.
