my car is jumping occasionally and I had just replaced the plugs and wires with correct type and gap. Still jumping but not as bad. an obd reading said random misfire . next step is replace the coil pack, but am also having trouble with temp. guage . Could it be coolant sensor, since it would possibly cause a misfire and also guage trouble?

That could be a possibility. A bad temp sensor can cause the vehicle to usually run very rich. You can check the coil. I would also suggest that since it is a random misfire code that to check your fuel pressure, fuel filter, and that your engine did not jump time on the timing belt.
