radiator water ran over to spare tank about 1cm

HI , sir i had repair my engine after that still found out the radiator coolant water ran over to spare tank about 1cm after car cool down will decrease back it is normal? to have this symptom before that my engine happen all radiator coolant ran over to spare tank fully and foremen found out the gasket burn and has been change new gasket and sewing the engine head.
