Radiator corroded causing head gasket to go

I recently had my radiator crack due to corrosion which has blown the head gasket. This is what I was told by the garage I bought the car from two years ago.
Thing is, I took the car there at the end of September for a full service.
If the radiator is now so corroded that it cracked, should this have been spotted when the full service was done?
To explain, I'm having real problems with the garage as it has taken them over a month to tell me what it was that caused the problem.

Hi Yadman,

It all depends on what their definition of a full service is. If they just drained and filled the radiator or even flushed the system, they would have just seen a lot of dirty coolant. In order to see any corrosion inside the radiator, they would have actually look inside it with a camera or maybe pressure test it to see if there are holes. This is not common practice when just servicing the unit. Normally, they are only going to look for this if there is an issue. So it is hard to say that they should have found this but unfortunately it appears their customer service is not the best so maybe they could have done a little more to earn your business moving forward.
