I had my radiator replaced and the person did not fix the fan shroud back to the radiator and my fan shroud fell backwards, I believe it was backwards. anyway, it fell into my pulley system or however it goes and rubbed off all the wires to my fan which cause of course my fan stopped working, then overheated my car almost. so, now a friend of mine had redid All the wiring on the fan in my car and I'm wondering if when the wires did that will it is there a safety switch in the relays like it'll like something of pop a fuse you know as if false safety mechanism but would something like that happen in the relays. I'm not sure. should I check my relays before I go ahead and order fan assembly. I should probably buy a whole new fan for my car because I'm not sure about the fixed wires if that should be safe and I should probably check the relays but I'm not sure how to do that my fuses are fine and the relay under the hood is when I'm wondering if that's where I should start.

Hi,

How were the wires repaired? Were they soldered together and then shrink wrap used?

As far as fuses/relays are concerned, I need confirmation of the engine size. They offered a 2.7L V6 and a 3.2L V6 on this vehicle (See attached pic). I need to know because the wiring schematics are different.

As far as testing a relay, here is a link that explains how it's done. However, chances are a fuse failed. The relays get power from a fuse in the under-hood fuse box.

Let me know the engine size.

Take care,

joe

The 2000 Dodge intrepid rt is a 3.5L.
The wires were just twisted together and used electric tape. Which I'm not comfortable with.
My basic thought here is that I'm ok with getting a new fan assembly. It's not a bad price but putting it in and it not working is an issue I'm thinking of. If that happens then which direction would I go?

I didn't realize it was an RT.

Here is the link for testing a relay:

I attached the wiring schematic below for the radiators.

See pics below. Note: I had to cut the pic in half to make it readable. I did overlap it so you can go from one to the next.
