Question on the 2.2 SKYACTIV-D Sport Nav engine?

I am looking at a Mazda 3 or Mazda 6 with a 2.2 SKYACTIV-D Sport Nav it will be 2016 reg. I have heard and read mixed reviews about this engine, and I am not sure whether to buy one, can you assist?

These are diesel engines which have problems with the DFP systems, sometimes diesel mixes with engine oil during DPF regeneration. This causes the oil level to rise, not drop. Also, these engines had timing chain issues, injector seal leaks and EGR/intake clogs. I am not a fan of diesel engines for this reason, but if you live in a region that tailors to this type of fuel make sure you maintain the engine according to the manufacturer's suggestions, especially the fuel filter/water separator.
