Water pump pulley installation?

I removed my A/C compressor and ran a new belt. Wondering what direction, the water pump pulley is supposed to go. Counter clockwise or clockwise.

The water pump is supposed to turn counterclockwise. By looking at the belt configuration the only way you could bypass the A/C compressor would cause the water pump to run backwards. Check the images below to see what I am talking about.
