Problem with key and ignition can't start the car

Hi, I placed my key into the ignition of my car and it turns in the ignition however the car does not start and I do not hear the noise when the key is drawn by the ignition. Do you know what the problem could be?

Do you have all the dash lights come on with the key in and turned on? is this a transponder type ignition? may be a faulty transponder, transmission range switch or starter, these will have to be tested.
