Problem steering to the right

If you are hearing something similar to bad brakes, it could be a wheel/hub bearing. Do you hear a howling sound which driving straight? However, I do not see how that would make it hard to turn right. I have a feeling something is under the vehicle such as a plastic shield, inner fender, or the like and when you turn right, it is stopping the tire from turning and making a noise as it rubs against the tire..

I would not be worried about taking it to a dealer. The vehicle is still under full manufacturer warranty. They come with a three year 36,000 bumper to bumper warranty. However, if you hit something and damaged it, that will not be covered.

Simply take a look under the vehicle to see if anything is hanging. Check under the front fenders to see if there is evidence of the plastic inner fender being rubbed by a tire.

Do this and let me know what you find.

I do not see anything hanging and I took pictures. Thank you for the information on warranty, mine is nearly up because of the mileage but it is still covered.

I opened up the car to check if anything was wrong and I see this yellow bulb (what is it?) slightly leaking by the engine reservoir. Does that mean anything and is it serious?

Is this correlated to my issue?

What is that yellow bulb?

That is an oil filter for the engine, it sounds like the problem is the power steering gearbox or rack which is electronic. Here are diagrams to help you see what you are if for when doing the repair.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Thanks, Ken, for stepping in for me while I was out. And yes, that is the oil filter for the vehicle. It is common to see a slight amount around the base of it because when they are removed, oil comes out and sometimes can lay in there.

How have you made out with the steering issue?

I could not remember how to log in until now but I wanted to thank all of you for your help and time. While driving it sorted itself out and I had no further issues-even after moving from Clarksville TN to Lakewood WA and driving 4,109 miles.
