If I lightly press the gas pedal car runs great but if I press it more than half way on the pedal it totally cuts out like its not getting fuel or spark. I recently did replace the fuel pump with new OEM one so not that. It will gradually only speed up to freeway speeds just can't mash gas pedal much. Was thinking might me throttle position sensor. It's fuel injection.

Also is there a way to read codes on this old a car?

Hi,

It does sound like you don't have enough fuel pressure. Have you confirmed that it is within spec? Was the fuel filter replaced at the same time as the pump?

As far as pulling codes, take a look through this link and see if it helps.

Let me know if that helps.

Check the fuel pressure and let me know what you find. Let's hope it is a simple fix.

Take care,

Thanks Joe. I will soon with my new fuel pressure testing kit and let you know.

Greatly appreciate your help. I'm also wondering if maybe I got some water in somewhere when I went to the quarter car was and did the motor. I know not to get the distributor and coils wet so I always wrap them up.

With thanks,

Ron

Anything is possible. Let's hope it isn't something electrical because that can become a headache. LOL Let me know about the fuel pressure.

Take care,
Joe
