power steering pump shaft and belt tension-er

hello, i sure do appreciate you all being here. i have a couple of more questions that i would like to ask you all. can you all tell me if the rod shaft that my power steering pulley is mounted on is the shaft supposed to have a little play in it? if not what do i need to do to it? i noticed that my belt tension-er has three marks on it with a hole in behind the three marks. can you tell me what the three marks are for?

Hello,

Yes you should have some play about 1/8 inch in the pump shaft. The three marks on the tensioner mean minimum/maximum and ideal tension on the belt.

can u all tell me if i can set the tensioner2take just a little bit of slack out the belt&walk me thru it slow on how2do it?

The best way to take slack out of the belt is get a smaller belt or replace the tensioner.
