Power tilt steering wheel not working properly

It would go down but not up and it makes a crunching sound, so i stopped in the middle so it could be driven. I tried to tap the steering up, but it didn't move. In and out is okay. Can't see the motor or how to change it or check it out. Any instructions will be great.

Hello,

Since the motor operates, we know that the switch is good, and the motor is likely good as well. The issue could be the drive/gear mechanism that controls the up/down movement.
You will have to remove the bottom cover on the steering column to access the motor.
I know on some of these vehicles those components are part of the whole steering column.
