I am trying to remove the power steering pump as, alas, it has gone out. I am a decent mechanic, but I cannot figure out why the pullet shaft has an allen set screw in the end of it. I cannot get the pump mounting bolts out all of the way to remove the pump as they hit the pulley before fully disengaging from the pump body. It looks like the allen set screw has to come out to remove the pulley. But I cannot find any info on removing this set screw. And the special pulley removal tool I have seen is supposed to slide into a plain old hole in the end of the shaft. Is there a special way to remove this allen screw while holding the pulley motionless? Your help will be greatly appreciated.
