Power steering pump pulley removal instructions needed

Here are the directions specific to your vehicle for removal and replacement of the pump. The attached picture correlates with the directions.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Drain power steering fluid from reservoir.
2. Loosen power steering pump adjusting bolt, mounting bolts and nuts, then remove power steering belt.
3. Cover alternator with shop towels to prevent damage from spilled power steering fluid, then disconnect inlet and outlet hoses from power steering pump and plug hoses. Take care not to spill fluid on body or parts. Wipe off any spilled fluid at once.

4. Remove power steering pump mounting bolt, then remove power steering pump, Fig. 6. Do not turn steering wheel with pump removed.

I appreciate the quick response, but I'm just trying to change the pulley not the whole pump.

All you need to do is remove the nut at the end of the pump shaft. The remains of the pulley should come off. If it doesn't, you will need to get a puller to remove it. Then simply reinstall the new pulley, and tighten the nut to the specs listed in the picture. See picture 1.

Now because there is really no way to prevent the shaft from turning, you may have to use an impact gun to remove the nut, which is going to be hard with it still on the vehicle. Also, see if this link is at all helpful:

Okay, so if I were to cut the nut and split off or would that hurt something?

Sorry, I didn't get back sooner. As far as the nut, if you have a nut splitter, it shouldn't hurt anything. Just make sure not to damage the shaft.

Okay, back finally I got the nut off. now i guess I'm just lost as to how this pulley is installed. I rented the pulley puller and everything.. I am just not grasping the concept I guess please I need rescued,lol.

No problem. The pulley just slips over the shaft which has splines on it. Align the splins and then simply replace the nut and tighten.

Here are the specs for tightening:

POWER STEERING PULLEY NUT
64 N.m (6.5 kgf-m, 47 lbf-ft)

I'm trying to use the special pulley installer from AutoZone just not sure I catch the gist of it. lol

I don't think you can use the standard type puller. Can you upload a pic of what you have? Some pumps require one to install (mostly GM products). Let me know.
