When turning the steering wheel a whining sound occurs. On my last oil change I asked for a power steering fluid check, which came back okay. Do I need the lines to be bled or is the whining a sign of something wearing out?

it may be the power steering pump making the noise. due to your mileage you might try changing the fluid otherwise a mechanic will have to check to see if it is the pump valve or not.

Thank you so much, and so quick. I was thinking a pump problem. How urgently should I have the pump checked?

it is not really urgent as a lot of pumps will whine until the car dies if you have added something like the wrong fluid at one time that will do it as well . Maybe next time you take car in for service unless you lose your steering which is unlikely.
