Power steering not working

Good morning,

The stop leak was a bad decision. That stuff just swells the seals to try to get it to work again. The problem is it swells them so much that they break and then you have damage to the pump and the steering gear itself.

I would flush the system first to get rid of that stuff and see if it is any better.

If not then the pump and gear should be replaced.

The problem existed before I put the stop leak in there, I'm just wondering how flushing it could improve.

It most likely will not but the last thing you want to do is let that stuff get into the new parts and contaminate them and have them fail in a short period of time.
