Hi,

I would start by checking the fuse in the power distribution box under the hood. See pic 1 for which fuse to check.

Next, if the fuse is good and there is power in and out, check for power to the switch itself. If there is power and they still don't work, you may have a faulty ground. See pic 2 for ground location.

Here are a few links you may find helpful when testing:

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

If I recall, the switch is clipped into the plastic molding on the side of the switch. Take a look at pic 1 and let me know if it helps.

Also there is battery voltage at the main harness going to the module under the seat, but at the switch once i opened it it only gives -2.6v, in minus.

If the voltage is negative, make sure you don't have the polarity reversed. As far as the power supply, it comes through both a fusible link and a circuit breaker. The wire is white but splices to red before going into the control. Also, the ground between the two seats is spliced and ground is located under the driver's seat, attached to the floor.

See the attached pics. It shows the wiring schematic for both front seats.

Let me know if this helps you.

If you are using a digital multi-meter, you could have the supply and ground backwards. When the power flows through the meter backwards, it will read negative. It's not hard to have happen.

Let me know and I hope this is helping.

How are you getting a voltage reading from a test light?

I have a test light that comes with a display that shows voltage.it is one of those circuit testers with LCD.

I don't have one of those, but it sounds like I need one. LOL However, for you to show a negative voltage, power has to be traveling in a reverse manner or there is a draw pulling power the wrong way.

Great! Glad it's fixed. Something was back feeding power through your gauge. That is the only way I can think of to get a negative reading. Regardless, I'm glad it's fixed.

Now, I was on the Snap on truck today and they don't have a light like yours, so I have to ask where you got it. LOL
