1984 Porsche 944 Non-Turbo, 2.5L Inline 4, 5 speed.
Is there anything special required to remove the power steering pump? Or is it a fairly straight forward on and off procedure?

Removing the power steering pump is not a problem for most back yard mechanics. Now reinstalling a new pump is the problem. you need to make sure the timming belts are tensioned properly. There are two belts. a primary belt and secondary belt. If these are not tensioned right you damage the motor. The valves and pistons will hit. There are tools and proper procedures to do this. I have used a clicker tool from www.944online.com this is the easiest way that i know of. Good luck.
