i have a 944 that has sat in the garage a few years do to a knock i tried the to turn the ignition key and it was like it was the wrong key i tried all of them and the same i am getting ready to pull the engine and will probably be jioning but i can't see paying for one question thank you hopfully you will have a answer mike

Hi there,

If you are sure you have the correct key, just sty a little powdered graphite in the lock, work the key gently and wiggle the steering wheel at the same time this may free up any stuck tumblers, start here.

thank you for the answer i tried wd40 maybe i should not have hope it won't gum it up i am a heavy equipment mechanic kinda like a bull in a china shop thanks again mike

Hi there,
Yes, WD 40 is not good for this sort of thing, if the lock fails to respond you may have a faulty tumbler or damaged segments or springs, but make sure that you have the correct key first!

i tried graphite and worked the key moving the wheel still like the wrong key it is the right key i am getting a manual on the 944 maybe i can get to it that way thank you
