Have the steering and suspension systems inspected at a tire and alignment shop. Ford has a lot more trouble with parts separating leading to loss of control and crashes than all other manufacturers combined, and noises must be checked out right away. In particular, ball joints and tie rod ends should be checked once a year and anytime you hear a noise.

If you have a jack and jack stands you can check those parts yourself for looseness but a clunk when turning is usually caused by a tight or binding ball joint. To identify that the truck has to be sitting on a turn table on an alignment rack so the mechanic can see and feel the offending part with the vehicle's weight on it.
