Popping and thumping noise coming from under the vehicle?

Under driver side floor there is a loud popping or thumping noise. anything I can do to narrow down or help my question be answered?

Does this noise happen when moving or turning? More then likely this is a driveshaft or rotating component that is binding but hearing it will really help narrow it down.
