The Almera is the N17 series. I have changed the spark plugs, coil, plugs, nozzles, fuel pump, and yet the car refuses to accelerate. The fluid temperature goes up 172. And each time you shift the gear lever to the Drive or Reverse there is a very sharp noise. Please help.

Can you get a recording of this sharp noise? If I am misunderstanding that noise, then I will point you in the wrong direction.

Based on this, I am thinking we have a damaged transmission and will most likely need to be rebuilt or replaced.

We need to start by checking the fluid and see what condition it is in and if it is low.

Here is a guide that will help with this:

Basically, I am looking to see if there is metal in the fluid. We may need to drop the pan to find this out.

However, the thing I am thinking is that the sharp noise you are hearing is the input shaft or some other input part snapping and then you have no movement.

If I am correct, we should have metal in the fluid so let's start with this and go from there.

Thanks
