Engine Performance problem
1998 Pontiac Transport 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

THe van was driving fine, but when we came out of the store and tried to start it, it sputtered like it was out of gas. After a few attemps it quit sputtering. I've checked all the small fuses in the fuse box under the hood, and tried replacing the fuel pump micro relay. I've only had this vehicle for two days and its the only I have to get the kids to thier appt's. any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I am not sure how new the wires and plugs are. It is firing great, not missing a beat..... turns over fine. Battery is real strong. Even tried giving it gas from inside the hood, instead of the peddle. nothing, you can tell not a drop is getting in there...... it's like it is empty.

Spray some carb cleaner into throttle body see if it lights. Need to check fuel pressure. Should be able to hear pump in tank run when key on.

Tried to find the spot to check fuel pressure, according to where the haines manual said it should be, behind the power steering . but it's not there. question, if it totally ran out of gas, and i put a two gallon can in it. would that be enough for it to start up, and would I have to do anything special. when you know on the tank underneath. it sounds empty, not like there is something in the bottom.

If it ran out 2 gal not enough can you hear pump run. Often times when tank run dry it pulls alot of debris into pump and takes it out.

Air should self bleed not like a diesel where you have to bleed after system open.
Let me know what happens

Go to an Auto zone they will read codes then post.
Try coolant flush and a thermostat. Is air volume low? all fan speeds work?
