fuel pump reset switch?

There is no fuel pump cutoff switch for this car. There is a fuel pump relay though, here are the engine wiring diagrams (below) so you can do some testing along with a guide to help you get the problem fixed.

It could be the fuel pump has gone out and needs replacement

Hello, I have a 1995 Pontiac Sunfire, and I am trying to replace the fuel pump. First of all, I am finding difficulty in siphoning the fuel. The 6 foot hose I bought seems to get stuck about a quarter of the way in the line. Is it necessary to drop the tank in order to replace the pump, and is there a shortcut to empty the tank?

If I remember right I believe there is an anti-siphon device that they started putting in the filler tube leading to tank to keep people from doing what you are trying to do. Meaning the wrong people, of course. I think it is a spring type device that prevents hoses from reaching all the way down in the tank.
I think you do have to drop tank to change out the pump. As for the fuel maybe you can take tank loose and drop it to where you can get past the filler neck and siphon fuel from there. If you have to drop it with fuel maybe try floor jack and a small sheet of wood to help ease the tank down where you can manage it.Hope this gives you some idea of how to deal with your trouble. If you aren't very handy with tools your best bet is to recruit wrench happy buddies or just take to shop($$) :evil:
