Hello.

I was driving and the oil pump light came on and the car just quit running. There is oil in the car, and I have it maintained and changed regularly, along with the transmission fluid being changed every 6 to 12 months and regular maintenance.

Do you have any idea why my car quit, after the oil pump light came on. I tried starting it, but it would not start, so I did not try to start it again.

Thank you

Don't drive the car-the oil pump has failed-the reason why it just quick on you there's no oil pressure to closed the oil pressure sending unit to provide the fuel pump power-it died because there's no fuel. Get the oil pressure check to rule out the oil pump-also see below

I am a woman. So what I understand from your reply is that because threre is no oil pressure to close the oil pressure sending unitand this is why it will not provide the fuel pump power to provide fuel, gas to the automobile.

I did try starting it once after it immediately quit, once the oil light came on but it would not even start and I had it towed to the garage.

Do you feel there may be any damage to the engine.
Also is there a sensor that makes it quit right away like that so it will not start, in order to prevent damage by not allowing the engine to start by not providing fuel to the automobile. Thank you again.

I indicate the oil pressure due to the oil light came On but necessarily the actual problem they could be other areas on the ignition and fuel system Have the garage people to assess the problem.
