My son's vehicle is sitting now in my driveway and will not start. The diagnostics to date are: Upon Key in: Warning Bell chimes, but no dash lights, Idiot lights, or radio. Turning the Key, there is no crank, not even a clicking sound like the starter is trying. I shorted across the starter posts, and there is power, as the solenoid fires (but no crank). All fuses in ingnition and fuses box are good. I was thinking starter, at first, but with no power at dash now, I am wondering if it is in the key switch or ignition switch prior to sending power...My question is what is next step in diagnosis and where is the ignition switch located????

My info showed the above location for ignition switch. All info says to disarm the airbag before working around the steering column. You may be able to check feed to and from ignition switch without removing switch. There may be a multiwire connector under the dash, for circuits going into and from the steering column. Even checking those circuits, you might still want to disable the air bag. Red wire is feed to ignition switch, hot all the time. Yellow wire is feed to neutral switch for starter circuit.

Symptoms... Key in the ignition, warning bell sounds, but as you turn key, no dash lights/idiot lights, no crank, no click... No sound... I replaced the Ignition switch, and starter... no change. Power at the ignition solenoid, goes from 0-12v on key turn, but no noise. When I short across the solenoid,it fires but no crank. At a loss, Battery recharged, all fuses good. still one dead car.... Maybe I misunderstood your post? Cranking is starter action only. Are you saying it cranks good but won't run?

You have good voltage at small purple wire at starter solenoid, key in start position? The way I read your post, you have good voltage at that terminal? The only reason to jump the solenoid, is if there isn't any voltage at that terminal? I guess I'm not understanding, sorry.
