I purchased this car a few months ago due to fuel prices and it runs wonderfully except that when I get in it and turn the lights on- only the driving lights come on. If I hold the lever on the column in the correct position it will eventually stay on. At first this was only for the low beam setting but it now has started on the high beams as well. Friends sugested that it may be a sensor going bad. If so, Where is it? and can a mechanically inclined person replace or bypass it without the need to resort to a costly repair service?

In the fuse panel there is a relay. should be on side of panel big black thing that the ( day time running lights) maybe try replacing that. doesnt cost very much should be less then 10.00 or maybe the switch itself is bad. and the switch could be got from any salvage yard. but it sounds like the switch its self i had to you duct tape on mine just to keep it on but after they would come on they would only stay on for a while then if it got bumped or i hit a hole in the road they would kick off. but you have have lights its probably the switch but it cant hurt to check out the relay too.
