my battery light came on after being pumped in the front end is this a problem...why would it come on

Not sure I completely understand your question "after being pumped in the front end"?
Do you mean being raised by a jack, or an impact to the front end?
The battery light indicates a problem with the alternator, have alt. checked at any auto parts store for free.
If it was hit, it may be a fuseable link, relay or wire dislodged.
