engine sludge

i have a 2001 pontiac gran prix - 3100 l eng. auto 16400 miles sedan - engine has heavy slude build up and noisy lifters. i am wondering if i can flush the engine with a mix of 3 qt. diesel fuel and 2 qt oil at a 1/2 hour idle run then drain. will this mess up the sensors ? any advise on how to internaly flush will be appreciated. thanks dust
