I have a 2 door, 3.1 v-6 grandprix se. it has 197,855 miles. i recently am having a promblem with it. when the fan kickes on it feels like the car is going to stall and an egg smell appears. i have done oil changes every 3,000 miles. someone told me it could be my engine going. .

Have the codes in the computer checked. Also check your coolant level please. It sounds like you may have a rich condition.

[quote:03e46ba4be="jersey74"]Hi, i just recieved your information about my car. I am a female and i do not understand what you mean by rich condition. Do you mean i am look at spending alot of money to repair this car or something else. the sensor for the low coolent is gone and the light stays lite. i add fluid when it looks low. could that be causing a problem. it did not happen until i took it from North Carolina to New Jersey a few times and my speed sensor went one trip and then my powersteering pully broke. Please Help[/quote:03e46ba4be]

Please understand that being female and not having comprehension of a particular subject are related in any way.

Rich condition means that too much fuel is going into the engine and not being burned properly, thus possibly the bad smell.

The codes are stored in the computer and it requires a scanner to read them. This gives insight as to what is bothering the computer and what it is controlling. These would be helpful.

As far as the coolant, and this is important, how often do you add it? A quart every 3000 miles for example? Do your best to approximate. Are you aware of any leaks? Remove the oil cap and look on the inside of the cap, describe what you see- black or yellowish/whitish?

When you say fan kicks on, you mean the cooling fan?

Can't even guess at cost without finding out more about the situation. So far nothing
