2002 Pontiac Montana 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My starter appears to have a bad spot. It will click occasionally and not turn over. This sounds dumb but if I open and drop the hood closed it will eventually catch and start normally several times,then I have to repeat the procedure. I fear I will be stuck somewhere when it will not respond to this method. I want to replace the starter and wondered what the proper procedure is. Thanx Skip

Well I crawled under the engine-after jacking it up and placing jack stands under it. Low and behold I found the starter removed the two bolts with a deep metric socket and disconnected the wires from the two terminals took the old starter with me compared it to the one I purchased and left the old one and bolted it back up and it started right up. Total time was less than an hour!!!! This was the easiest fix I have run into in a long time. Skip
