I am in the process of replacing the front head gasket for a Coolant problem that is known for these engines. I am having problems removing the engine strut bracket from the passenger side. I have found two bolts, so far and a compression type stud that the bracket fits over. Any advice on removing this bracket? It will not come loose and I have not went to extreme measures...yet.

I would recheck the leak area
as I would suspect the intake manifold gasket
its more common for it to fail and cause a leak at around the head area and on top of the tranny and by the front too
as for the bolt I’m not sure what is it you r trying to do,,,, sorry

I am trying to remove this strut bracket so I may remove the exhaust pipe. I have had a mechanic look at the vehicle and determine that there is a head gasket leak...unless he was wrong. I did a compression test. I do believe it had a manifold leak also but would a manifold leak result in poor compression on the cyclinder?

i am redoing the heads on my 1999 pontiac montana also. There is another bolt on the bottom of that bracket, you have to unbolt you air conditioner pump to remove it.
