I have a 2000 Grand Prix GT and everytime i am driving at low speeds and im driving over rough roads i hear a low clunking sound coming from underneath the car towards the right rear. You cant hear it while driving on the highway, just at low speeds on bumps. I took it to a local shop and he said it might be the strut stops and that i would have to replace the struts because you you cant replace just the stops?? any ideas? thanks.

I would first check the stabilizer links for any possible movement as this is most typical. Next would be the stabilzer bar bushings and thirdly the strut mount.

My money would be the right rear stabizer links.

Check your email for a pic.

"i need help finding it and what to do to see if its loose."

Using the diagram I sent , locate the stabilizer link. slide under the car, grab it and try hard to move it up and down. There should be no play in it at all.

Also, can you reproduce the noise by shaking the car up and down in back with 2 people?
