2002 Pontiac Grand Prix How to replace a coolant temp senso

Recently (about 2 days ago) I had just put gas in my car and got back on the freeway and my service engine soon light came on so I called my bro who works at a Pontiac Dealership what he thought it was as he has a Grand Prix too. Anyway he said go to Autozone and have them check it so, I did. The diagnostic test said the problem was with the coolant sensor, coolant level or thermostat. I haven't had any problems starting or driving my car. I live in WI and its super cold right now. So based on the fact that my coolant levels are fine and my temp gage hasn't budged my assumption is the problem is with the coolant temp sensor. Now I just need to know how to replace it.
If anyone has any advice, tricks, etc or any ideas on what else it could be I'd appreciate it. My car is my baby and the only nice thing I own as I am a college student... So thanks for your help

I know the feeling. When I was in college I had a 68 Dodge SuperBee that was my baby and was a classic. My father made me sell it because it left a couple oil marks on the driveway. I bearly got 2K for it in the late 80's. Now it would have been worth around 50K because it was original and in perfect condition. Thanks dad!

Regardless, the sensor should be near the t-stat housing. It's just a simple remove and replace. It bolt's in so remove it and just replace it with the new one.

Thanks so much. The code actually cleared on its own. Turned out the sensor was just blocked but thanks soo much. And bummer about your SuperBee I woulda cried. One of my dad's friends a had a 69 Judge in Highschool and liked to race but the cops got smart and instead of chasing him they just met him at his house and his dad told him either you go or the car goes so the car went. Very sad things have happened to some very nice cars.
