I've read a few other posts that have similarities with this one, but I have not seen one that has all the problems that my car is having. I'll be driving fine for about 10 minutes travelling speeds between 20 - 45 mph, averaging 2000 rpms. Then suddenly the rpm drops and almost stalls, jumps up to 5000 rpm, back and forth for about 30 seconds. It gives me enough time to pull over to the side of the road where i turn the car off and wait for five min. While the car is off i swear i can smell gas, like i flooded the engine or something. It used to be that this happened once every couple weeks, and my mechanic couldn't duplicate to tell me what is wrong. Now, it is happening more frequently, and this time i couldn't get the car to start back up. When the strange idling starts, the ABS light comes on, and the check engine light as well.
