2001 Pontiac Grand Prix ecm promblem

the p0650 is an output driver fault within the pcm,an output driver is an internal ground inside the pcm.before you replace the pcm check the MIL fuse first,it could be blown.if it isnt then you would be looking at a possible pcm problem,her is how it works,Output driver modules (ODMs) are used by the powertrain control module (PCM) to turn ON many of the current-driven devices that are needed to control various engine and transaxle functions. Each ODM is capable of controlling up to 7 separate outputs by applying ground to the device which the PCM is commanding ON. Unlike the quad driver modules (QDMs) used in prior model years, ODMs have the capability of diagnosing each output circuit individually. DTC P0650 set indicates an improper voltage level on the output circuit that controls the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL).

oh thank u so much for the info but tell u the true i have no idea where to start and how to do it where is the pcm and which fuse to look for should i ask the dealer to do or do it myslef because for some reason my car will not start only when i press the gas and this problem i have is problemly the reason why hope too hear u soon

the the I/p ignition fuse is located in the fuse panel at the instrument panel on the side of the dash,and the ECM fuse is in the same location,just check to see if there blown.as far as the car starting that would be a different problem,check the fuel pressure,if you have to push the gas pedal to start it,thats more of a fuel issue.you can do this stuff on your own or take it to the dealer,the choice is yours,if you dont think this is something you can do than take it to the dealer.

hello i found where the fuse were there still good so do i have too buy a new pcm or check for something else hope too hear u soon.....

I would also check for corrosion at the PCM harness at the PCM,here is where the pcm is,

the pcm is number 4. in all you will probably be replacing the pcm,if you do it needs to be programmed.sorry I wish I was in miami,im in NY.

ok one more question what is pcm called and how much do u think it cost to buy one is a Engine Control Module or something else

its just called an ECM,it costs about $400.00 for just the ecm,installed and programmed probably $500.00 to $600.00.
