Engine Performance problem
2000 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
2000 Pontiac GTP (3.8 Supercharged) fault codes P0449 and P0401
For the P0049: I have replaced the Purge Valve located on top of the engine, the vapour canister is in good shape and does not leak, and the wiring “LOOKS†okay. Is there a sensor to replace and what is the electrical part attached to the vapour canister, can this be a fault? As a side note the gas cap checks out okay too.
For the P0401: The EGR “SEEMS†to work, plunger moves and there is no build up to restrict gas flow. Is there perhaps a pressure differential sensor to check and where is it? The EGR valve is a bit pricey, so I don’t want to jus arbitrarily change it to see if things might work.
Any comment or recommendations regarding the advertised on-line service manuals; the print ones at the auto store just don’t seem to have enough info?
