1998 Pontiac Grand Prix oil pump

Chances are the engine and pump are fine. Has the check engine light come on?

no check engine light.any ideas what it might be? thanks

I question if you have a lifter that collapsed in the engine. It's hard to say without hearing it. Have you let anyone listen to or check it?

i hear ya.im going to have someone look at it very soon.i can sart it and it taps some and the motor shakes like crazy so i dont want to run it.im not sure but it doesnt seem like its getting any oil,thats why i thought maybe it was the pump.when it died it stalled at a light ,i sarted it back up and it tapped very lightly i drove another half mile and it died while driving so i pulled over.it was a little hot, had oil and water,but wouldnt start til later that day and thats where im at.any more ideas would be great.thanks for replying i really appreciate it.

Something tells me that there is a problem with a sensor on the engine that is causing it to run rough and cause a noise that you hear.
