Electrical problem
1991 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl Automatic

My car won't start. It will turn over but won't start all the way. I noticed that the red wire under the fuel pump relay was not hook-up and didn't know if this was the problem. I don't know where it hooks up to. Last time I tried to start my car it made a loud boom under the hood when I pressed on the gas and was smoking a little. If this can be a simple thing to fix please let me know. I would like to drive my car again.

The red wire may be the fuel pump prime connector. It's a test circuit for the fuel pump, doesn't plug in to anything. As far as the loud boom under the hood, I have no idea, unless it was more of a pop, then might be a timing issue?

With the engine cranking, is there spark at the plugs? Are there any codes? How is the fuel pressure?
