digtal dash no longer lights up with engine running.lights up with park, and headlights on.dimmer works fine.checked all fuses ok.

If the fuses are OK and the dimmer works, I would suspect a problem with the IP itself.

You could try to get a used one from a junkyard, might be hard to find but would be a lot cheaper than from GM (if available).
