Brakes problem
1988 Pontiac Grand Prix Automatic

the brakes in my car work but you basically have to slam them down in order to stop. if you try to press normally they wont work at first then as you get closer to the floor they begin to work but not well. the brake pads are fine and we bleed them constantly. What do i need to fix, and what part do i need for my car.
We also replaced the plastic cap that goes in where the brake fluid goes a 4 months ago, but we checked it today and it is destroyed. Why?

If there are no leaks in brake system, then it is most likely the Master Cylinder.

The seal has failed and is allowing hydraulic fluid past the piston, causing a low pedal.
