where is the knock sensor

Hi. I have a 1996 grand am se (3.1 SFI V6) and all i want to know is where the knock sensor is located on the engine. I got a code for low voltage on knock sensor.

Also wondering if an 3.1V6 from 1995 has a knock sensor and if so, is it interchangeable with the 1996 3.1V6 engine.

Your knock sensor is located on the front (radiator) side of the block above the oil filter. Don't know if a 1995 knock sensor will work on a 1996. You are better off to replace it with a new one.

On the left front of the engine, Look for the letter H in the diagram. I don't think there will interchange, 95 is OBD I 96 is OBD II. Different computer systems...
