The turn signals and hazard lights on my 94 Grand AM both acted very sluggish, then gradually stopped working completely.

The flasher unit is not located in the fuse box.

The fuses for these systems are fine.

The car has a functional multi switch with cruise control etc. all working fine on it except for the turn signals.

I've been told the flasher unit is in the steering column? How can this be when the thing is supposedly round and fairly large - and wouldn't fit in there. Can not find it under the dash anywhere.

Car is a standard transmission, 4 cylinder with ABS and driver's side airbag.

So where do I find the flasher unit? Don't want to pay several hundred dollars to have a shop replace a simple relay...

Thanks!

It takes some work to get to, but it is just to the right of the steering column if I recall.
