2004 Pontiac Grand Am I have problem with Switch Commute

Electrical problem
2004 Pontiac Grand Am 4 cyl Automatic

When I was running my car I saw my switch commute

had smoked and burnt smell and lights on warning light ( in front of

wheel ) and lights on control condition lights on radio,...

turn off . I tried control switch commute but it was not

working and any lights did not light ( not work ) .When I

drive in dark I can not see anything to control .And now

I just bought a new switch commute in dealer but

when I putted into a plug it still had smoked and had

burnt smell.I don't know what should I do now???

What should I change anything else ???
