Hi, my door lock actuator on the drivers side front seems to be broken. The bar that hooks the outside door handle seems to be unattached from the lock actuator. It is behind the metal door panel and very difficult to get to. The door will not latch closed. Any suggestions? Thanks

Check for 12V at door lock switch, if present, then lock solenoid or as you suggest a mechanical connection.

You will have to remove the interior door panel to fix this.
