replace the blower fan resistor?

1.Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2.Remove the right closeout/panel insulator. 3.Move the Body Control Module (BCM) aside. 4.Disconnect the electrical connections at the blower motor. 5.Remove the blower motor retaining screws. 6.Remove the blower motor and fan assembly. Fig. Blower motor mounting

To install: 1.Install the blower motor and fan assembly. 2.Install the retaining screws and tighten the screws to 45 inch lbs. 3.Connect the electrical connections. 4.Install the BCM into position. 5.Install the right closeout/insulator panel. 6.Connect the negative battery cable. Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 12 ft. lbs. Let me know if this helps. Joe

IS THERE ANY CHANCE THAT THE RESISTOR NOT BEING MELTED ON THE CURCUIT BOARD TO CONTROL THE SPEEDS OF THE BLOWER?

yes i need my blower motor resistor replaced, and i was wondering the steps to find this to get it replaced. i didn't know if my dash needs to be taken off or if i can get to it from behind the glove box or from the floor board to behind the dash. i know that you follow the wires from the blower motor to the resistor but i don't know how to locate the blower motor.

remove the under dash panel on the pass side. after that look underneath and you will see the heater box and the metal round thing about the size of your fist is the blower motor. the resister is right next to it. it is held in by a few 7/32 screws. hope this helps

I need help finding the location of the Heater Blower Motor Resistor on a 2000 Pontiac Grand-AM GT. The heater fan only works on the highest setting. I pulled out the glove box, heater control panel, & radio and tried following the wire harness back from the control panel. However the harness splits off with one section going under the rug by the center consol, & the other disappearing back by the firewall. Since I had everything out, I looked under the dash on the passenger side, but I didn't see anywhere where the resistor would fit/go into. I had the same luck under the hood. Maybe I just didn't see where it belonged. I ran out of time so I didn't get a chance to look under the dash on the driverside. The resistor I got from my auto-parts store is made by Standard (part# RU43). The resistor is a Printed Circut Board Card that is mated to a 5 pin male plug with two attaching ears (for screws/bolts). It's obvious the resistor slides into a port of some sort. I noticed that the resistor has an attached foam gasket which is leading me to think it most likely belongs under the hood somewhere.

Over time the blower motor resistor will get burnt on the different speed setting and can only work in one speed.

The blower motor resistor is located under the dash on the passenger side. It is mounted tot he blower motor.
To take off the sensor simply disconnect the wiring and remove 2 screws that holds it in place.

How do I change the blower motor resistor and where is it located at?

Blower motor resistor is located on the blower motor case itself. Blower motor is located under dash, remove right lower interior panel for access.

REMOVAL/INSTALLATION:
Disconnect negative battery cable.
Disconnect resistor wiring harness.
Remove resistor mounting screws, then resistor.
Reverse removal procedure for installation.

My heater control inside the vehicle only works on the 4 & 5 setting. I get no air at all on settings 1,2 & 3.

It does sounds like a faulty blower motor resistor. Which is a very common issues with these cars. The resistor is mounted on the side of the blower motor. See below for the replacement procedure of the resistor.

Remove the right lower interior panel in front passenger side, it's screwed to the side of the blower motor...

The blower resistor should be mounted next to the blower motor. The resistor connector and blower connector should be in the same wire lume. I believe the blower resistor has 5 wires to it. DK BLU,PPL, LT BLU,TAN,YEL
