Brakes problem
2002 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive 130000 miles

When i installed brakes and rotors on my car. When i would tighten the bolts for the caliper back on it would force the other side of the rotor to flare out some. I was told that it was ok to just put the tire back on and drive it for a while. I did this and when i tried to stop the pedal was like a sponge and i could smell burning. I got out and the pads and rotors where putting off smoke. One of the pads had a small clip on it and i didn't know if the was the inside pad or the outside. Do you think i put pads on wrong or am i doing something else wrong?

Pad with clip is the inside pad. Did you push the caliper piston completely back into the caliper housing?
