Computer problem
2001 Pontiac Grand Am Automatic 87000 miles

I just got this car and I've notice that the gas tank meter isn't reading correctly. I can't tell if the car is actually going through gas too fast of it's just the meter. I can go from a full tank to 1/2 a tank in a day or two according to the meter. Do you have any ideas what this issue could be and how much it will cost to fix? Thank you!!
