Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have had overheating problems after changing waterpump and thermostat still had a little problem but seemed to be ok. two weeks later while driving heard a strange noise and it started to get hot. when i pulled over the engine died and the coolant tank was empty the engine will not start. i pulled the intakes the top intake had water. drained the oil it is dark brown with a few bubbles. could the head gaskets need changed also. how do i tell if head is warped.

Remove all spark plugs, crank engine, any antifreeze come out of the plug holes? Now perform a compression test.

If the compression is low between to adjacent cylinders, the head gasket is blown. White smoke should have been seen at the tailpipe.
